Vickie Kassapidis DO, MS

Dr. Vickie Kassapidis is one of the newest additions to the Santa Barbara Pulmonary Associates team, joining the practice in 2026. A lifelong New Yorker, Dr. Kassapidis was raised by two pulmonologists in New York City. She completed her undergraduate degree at Barnard College in Comparative Literature with a focus on Modern Greek Poetry. Ultimately, she found her love of medicine outweighed her other creative interests and moved to Boston to complete a Master of Science in Biomedical Science at Tufts University School of Medicine before returning to New York to attend medical school at the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine.

She completed her residency training at New York University, where she was also selected to serve as a chief resident before moving on to a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Kassapidis is especially interested in interstitial lung disease, and her research focuses on what early, often incidental findings on chest imaging can reveal about later health outcomes.

Dr. Kassapidis is passionate about helping patients navigate the challenges of chronic respiratory disease. She believes in partnering with patients to ensure they feel informed, engaged, and confident in decisions about their care. She finds great fulfillment in the longitudinal relationships developed through outpatient pulmonary medicine. She emphasizes patient education, shared decision-making, and individualized treatment strategies to optimize disease control and improve quality of life.

Dr. Kassapidis knows Santa Barbara well, having visited for years with her husband, who is a Santa Barbara native. Upon completing her training, she sought out the opportunity to join our practice and raise her children here. She is thrilled to bring her experience and knowledge as the newest addition to the Santa Barbara community.

When she isn't at work, she enjoys spending time with her two children and husband outdoors, particularly at the beach and the farmers market.
